Curing the current global Covid-19 pandemic,  you will be able to use this page to find the latest information about our school's management of the ongoing risks presented by this as well as guidance for parents in relation to this. For details of support for 'Remote Learning' in the case that your child is absent from school for Covid-19 related reasons, please see their individual class pages for the relevant information and links.

What to do if my child is ill?

Predictably the expected Autumn colds and illnesses have begun to rear their heads, as they do at this time every year! I am sure there are many families in school who experiencing the symptoms of colds: runny noses, sore throats etc. Usually parents may not worry about these, but due to your understandable vigilance over Covid-19, we have been receiving a lot of phone calls each morning seeking advice about when to send/ not send children to school as well as what symptoms may suggest a possible Covic-19 infection and what to do in these circumstances. Please use this flow chart, which should hopefully help you to know what to do in the event that your child falls ill in the coming days and weeks. Obviously we all have to be cautious when it comes to Covid-19 symptoms, but at the same time we have to ensure that children are not unnecessarily absent from school.

Problems with accessing testing

We are aware of a number of families who have responsibly sought a Covid-19 test for their child/ another member of their family in recent days, who have found it extremely difficult to do so in a timely and practical way. These problems have been well documented across the country at present. I understand the difficult position that this leaves families in. Unfortunately, as frustrating as this undoubtedly is, as a school we have to insist, where there are Covid-19 symptoms, that a child is tested and/ or follows the required 14 day isolation period .

Some families may be aware that schools have been given a very small number of testing kits which can be handed to members of the school community in certain circumstances. I must be clear however that we have only 10 of these and will not be able to order any more for about a month. There are clear expectations that schools only hand these out to parents/ staff members in exceptionally limited circumstances however and so please do not be offended if you are struggling to access testing and we do not offer you one of these.

What change has the school made in light of Covid-19?

Please see our latest Risk Assessment which details the steps we are taking to mitigate the risks posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is regularly reviewed and updated by our Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body.
