A message from Mrs Wilson:
Welcome back to the summer term! It was fabulous to see the children return to school looking amazing for the start of what will be another very busy term. The new term started with great joy here at DSS with the focus being on our Easter celebrations. Christmas celebrations always seem so exuberant - but as a Christian community our real ‘Alleluia’ should be for Easter. Easter celebrates Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead after he was crucified for the sins of the world―the central belief of our faith. Easter is a hopeful reminder to all of us that we too will one day experience resurrection as God makes all things new. Although Jesus is not physically among us, we trust that He is still present in our hearts. And there was no doubt about that at DSS this week. A huge thank you to our PTA who started our week of celebrations off just right with an Easter egg for all of the children. Our younger children had a lot of fun ‘hunting’ the playground for hidden eggs - KS2 have been continuing to find them all week and regularly visit my office to see if there are ‘any more prizes!’ Our Easter bonnet parade was a wonderful reflection of the joy of Easter. Thank you to all parents who helped with the Easter bonnet making; our Easter parade was as colourful and joyful as we have ever seen it! I hope all of the parents who came to see it enjoyed the ‘backing track’ provided by the children who sang throughout with great enthusiasm! We always remind the children that the songs we sing are a form of prayer - and I have no doubt that our prayers of joy and thanks were heard on Wednesday! Thank you to Father Richard who came to celebrate our Easter Mass with us on yesterday. It was a joyful celebration of the Eucharist - made more so by the presence of some of our parents. Thank you to those of you who were able to come and join us. It was lovely to be able to welcome you into school to share in our liturgy.
Wishing you all every blessing of the Easter season.
