Governors
The Board of Governors are responsible for the conduct of the school and for helping it to achieve continuous improvements and high standards in all aspects of performance. Our aim is to ensure that the children are attending a successful school which provides them with excellent education as well as supporting their well being. In order to achieve this, we work closely with the various stakeholders who have an interest in the success of the school; the Diocese of Westminster, Hertfordshire Local Authority, the trust Board of ASCAT and, most importantly the school staff and parents of Divine Saviour children.
We fulfil our responsibilities by focusing on three key areas:
- Ensuring that there is a clear vision and strategic direction
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school

Brian O'Loghlen I was brought up in Hertfordshire, went to school in St Albans and have been a parishioner at St Saviours for more than 20 years. My son taught at Divine Saviour some years ago. When the Governors were looking for a Clerk in 2015, I thought that it sounded like a good ‘short term’ retirement hobby. More recently, I have become a Governor and took over as Chair of Governors in September last year. We work very closely with Mrs Wilson and her team and are very proud of the school and everything that the children are achieving. If you have any questions about the Governors sand what we actually do, please feel free to contact me on b.ologhlen@divinesaviour.herts.sch.uk |

Michelle Cooper Hello, I’m Michelle, mum to Dermot in Year 6. I became a Parent Governor in 2019. More recently, I have become a Foundation Governor and am currently Vice Chair of the Governing Body. I have been working as an RE teacher in a local secondary school for over 20 years. I believe strongly in the distinctive nature of Catholic schools and I am really enjoying working alongside the DSS community. |

Mary Anne Petrie I was brought up in Bushey, went to St Joan of Arc and then to university to train as a teacher and qualified in 1989. I am currently teaching RE at St Joan of Arc. I have always been an active member of my parish community. I have helped run first communion classes, confirmation classes as well as the RCIA programme. I have been a speaker at the Bushey interfaith forum on two separate occasions. I am passionate about Catholic education as I truly believe that it will give students all the tools and skills they need to navigate life. I have been a Governor at Divine Saviour for the past two years. I am chair of the school improvements committee and I am the OPAL play Governor. I am very proud to be a Governor at Divine Saviour and will work with the school community to strive for excellence. |

Teresa Sheridan I have been involved in Catholic Education for most of my life, firstly as a pupil, then as a teacher and also as a parent. I am now a retired teacher. I started teaching in 1983 at Sacred Heart School in Hammersmith but spent the majority of my teaching here at Divine Saviour School until my retirement in 2021. I am delighted to be a Foundation Governor of this lovely school. It has given me the opportunity to stay connected to my Divine Saviour family and it allows me to continue to serve this community. I am Governor responsible for Early Years and Special Needs education. I am also the Link Governor for Safeguarding. |

James Carter I am a qualified accountant who has worked across a variety of sectors including health, Defence, IT and HR services. I moved to Abbots Langley in 2014 and had my first interaction with Divine Saviour in early 2015, when my middle daughter joined their Nursery class. I became a Parent Governor in the summer of 2021 when my youngest two daughters were attending this school. As a parent, I had always been impressed by the school’s ethos and community feel, as well as the standard of teaching and focus on the individual pupil and wanted to give something back to the school – being a Governor allows me to do just that. I am the Link Governor for Science, as well as the Governor aligned to Health & Safety in the school. |

Beata Szaszkowska I am a dyslexia and literacy specialist and an assessor for exam access arrangements. I have been working in secondary schools in London since 2007. My family and I only moved to Abbots Langley in December 2022. My older son joined year 2 in January 2023 and my younger boy in now in Reception. We are also parishioners of St Saviour's. I was deeply touched by the warm welcome in the DDS family. I am also impressed by the care and commitment of the teaching and support staff that my children have received from day one. I am delighted that I can give back to the DDS community by joining the governing body as a Parent Governor and a Link Governor for SEN.
